My Fever Running Child

Starting Sunday afternoon, William ran a medium grade fever. I gave him Tylenol and the fever came down and Monday morning, he was good to go. He didn't have any fever and no noticeable symptoms, so off to the baby sitter's he went. I did go ahead and give him a dose of Tylenol just for good measure before we left that morning. I held out as long as I could and finally checked on him Monday afternoon. (My sitter is wonderful and I knew she would call me if she needed me or he was having any more problems.) She said that he had done fine all day long, but felt a little warm when he woke up from his nap. She gave him another dose of Tylenol and he was fine when I came to get him.
After we got home, he was doing fine until around 5:00ish. His fever started to creep up at that point and made it's highest at 104.4!! I gave him another dose of Tylenol early and started rubbing him down with a cold cloth. His fever finally started coming down, thankfully. Before he went to bed (3 hrs after Tylenol), I gave him a dose of Motrin and he slept through the night. When he woke up this morning, he was cool as a cucumber and has been fine all day long.
I did go ahead this morning and get him a dr's appt, just to get things checked out and make me feel better. We saw the NP and she was very glad that I brought him in because of the high fever, even though she found nothing major wrong that could cause such a high fever. His lungs were clear, his nose was very gooky, however. His left ear (tube is out of this ear) was dull and his right ear was red but neither was infected. His throat was irritated from the drainage. He, of course, had no fever and was acting fine while we were in the office. She said that he is probably just one of those children that run high fevers when they get sick. My mom said we all did the same thing. The thing that is extremely scary to me is that my brother had febrile seizures when he was about William's age. I watch him very closely when he starts running a fever as he is at an increased risk with our family history.
He is still perfectly fine and feeling great. The NP went ahead and put him on an antibiotic and a decongestant to get rid of the drip. Nothing like a high fever to make Mommy and Daddy crazy.

Oh, yea. Eddie is also sick right now with sinuses and all that is involved with that! I am praying that I don't get sick!
