This school year, I am trying to be more organized and get on more of a schedule for our family. I am doing my regular house cleaning chores on a schedule during the week, trying to get William's lunch made the night before and doing homework and baths at a set time at night. So far this week's gone ok. Now, it's only Tuesday and Eddie's working nights this week, so it's not a typical week for us, but I'm going to try my best to get my family on a schedule like this. I think it will do William so much good to be on a highly predictable schedule. Before, we were a go with the flow kind of household. Now that works, but doesn't always get everything done until the last minute and that makes for a cranky Mommy in the mornings.
We had already implemented some of this over the summer. William and I sat down and made a list of William's chores that were expected of him and started giving him a weekly allowance. He is doing very well with this and loves saving his money with several purchases in mind. We also sat down before school started and made a "William's Morning Routine" list. It is what he has to do in the mornings to get himself ready and the order that he needs to do them in. I have both lists laminated and they are hanging on his magnet board in his room. He is a very visual child and these are both working pretty well. This has also helped with his independence and maturity.
With all of the extra things coming at me this year at school and having the house on the market, this organization is crucial to my sanity!! Here's hoping we are all able to stick with it and make it work in our family.
