Back on the Front Porch

Back when we were getting married and just starting out, we lived in a trailer in Eddie's Daddy's trailer park. Most of the people in the park were RV residents who worked traveling construction/outages.
While we were there, construction was going on at Georgia Pacific and we had a full park. Our back yard was shared with the front yard of our neighbors and with that, you can't help but know each other. Little did we know that we would do more than just know our neighbors. We became very good friends with our "back door neighbors" and spent lots of time on their front porch. These are some of my favorite memories and Carolyn and Earl will always have a special place in our hearts.
About 8 years ago, the outage was over and Earl and Carolyn and their "posse" pulled out of Covington's RV park destined for their next job. Not long after that we bought our current place and moved out also. Thankfully we have been able to keep up with each other via the internet and they were able to "watch" William grow up, even though they have never seen him in real life.
During our trip to Texarkana, it just so happened that Earl and Carolyn were up from their now permanent home in Florida visiting a friend in Texarkana. I was very excited to know that we would be in the same town and we met up and had an awesome visit. They are wonderfully awesome people and some of the best friends we have ever had. We visited for several hours and I felt like we had never left the front porch. You know you've made a wonderful connection in life when you can go years without seeing someone and pick up just where you left off with no awkwardness or hesitation.
Carolyn and Earl, I enjoyed our visit more than you will ever know!!!

AWWW, what an awesome thing to say about these old people who fell in love with two brand new friends even before the wedding. I loved visiting every night out on the porch. Your Mother was a great mother making you come home at midnight and you left when you were supposed too. Good girl you were. Seems like forever ago. We sure spent many an hour out there talking and laughing. We still have friends that we keep up with from those days of traveling. I loved going with Earl and getting to learn about your neighbor's and keeping friends for life.

We were in Texarkana visiting one of them, Steve. Then we had the honor of having you three visit with us there. Your right about it being like old times. I loved meeting our little man. He is toooooo cute. Such a good little man. He is no longer a baby that's for sure.

We went to Branson, MO on Sunday and stayed until Friday and then went to North Alabama to visit with some other special friends, Buddy and Nancy Harris and all their children and grand children.

We feel very fortunate and blessed to have gotten to know you and Eddie and William and your families. It does seem like just yesterday though.

We love you guys bunches.

Earl and Carolyn Nelson
