Let's start off by saying Happy 4th of July! We had a pretty good day. We went to my parents' house and swam and had fried fish. It was just us and my parents, a very relaxing day, for the most part.
We started the day by swimming with Mamaw while Eddie and my Daddy fried the fish and french fries out at the pool. We all visited and enjoyed watching William swim. I got stung by something as I was getting into the pool, but it wasn't too bad, thank goodness. We all ate lunch and rested. The guys and William took naps and Mom and I rested and watched TV. After the rest, we ate watermelon and went back in the pool. Mamaw and Papaw stayed inside and enjoyed watching us through the picture windows.
We were really enjoying the swim and William was having a great time playing with his Daddy, when it all broke loose. Eddie thought William had a booger in his nose, so he tried to get it out. He called to me and said that he needed help, he couldn't get it out. I looked at it and realized, it wasn't a booger. It was a piece of metal wire in his nose, stuck! We immediately got out of the pool and rushed inside. My daddy has done lots of medical things in his career, so we tried to figure out the best course of action to take. We decided to see what we could do and if we couldn't do anything, then go to the ER. Mamma and Daddy have some clamping tweezers, so we decided to use those. We got William on the counter, got good light and Eddie clamped the wire in his nose. It pulled out very easily and bled very little. We have examined his nose extremely close and pushed and mashed on it. There is nothing left in there!!!
I have no idea where my child got this from or how it got stuck in his nose. It was a very thin (thinner than a staple) piece that was about 3/4 of an inch long. We are still watching his nose and feeling it to make sure there is no infection or anything left. We have saved the piece of wire and will be putting it in the baby book for sure.
Eddie laughed and told my Mom that this was the last holiday at her house. Some of you may recall, 2 Thanksgivings ago Eddie tore his knee up at Mamma's house in a 4-wheeler accident. We all got a good laugh and will be there for the next holiday, I'm sure!
