Horrible Night, But Great Day

OK, so last night was the worst night that I've ever had as a Mommy. I felt useless to help my child. He didn't feel good and wasn't himself all day, but last night after he woke up from a late nap was just awful. He woke up whining and didn't stop until this morning. In fact he didn't go to sleep until 12:30 am and started screaming about 3 hours before. He went through spells of just screaming and others where he would roll on the floor or bed kicking his legs and flailing his arms and screaming at the top of his lungs. He could not be consoled or held, he just flailed and screamed even more. I couldn't figure out what was wrong with my baby. I think it was a combination of hunger (he hasn't really eaten much in the past few days, and lost a pound when he was weighed at the Dr's office), exhaustion, fever, and the confusion of not feeling good.
I finally got him to go to sleep at 12:30 am and skipped his 1:00 am Motrin dose because I didn't dare "wake the beast". We got a few hours of sleep and he woke back up at 3:30 am doing the exact same thing. Uncontrollably screaming, kicking, jumping up and down, flailing his arms and such. I was at my wits end and cried along with him. Had he not been coherent when we called his name and tried to get him to settle down, I would have headed to the ER, but he was with it, just in a horrible pissed off mood. Eddie was wonderful and helped as much as he could, as we both didn't have a clue as to what to do for him. He finally took a little bit of juice and settled down after about 30 minutes. His fever was down considerably and I made the decision to not give him any more Tylenol or Motrin and see what the fever did. I thought maybe the meds were hurting his stomach or the Motrin didn't agree with him (this is the first time he's ever had Motrin).
Well, he slept until about 10:00 this morning and I held my breath when he woke up. I was so scared we were going to have the same problems as we had during the night. Thank goodness he woke up in a great mood and his fever had broken in the night sometime. He woke up fever free and feeling great!
He has been in a great mood all day long, laughing and playing and being his normal loving, cuddly, active self. He has also gotten his appetite back and has eaten more today than he has in the last 3 put together.
The Lord is good and answered a scared Mommy's prayers. My little boy is back and feeling great. I had already made the decision that if he wasn't better in the morning, that I was taking him back to the doctor today, but I didn't have to thankfully!
