Today was the second day of Vacation Bible School. Things are going much better than I expected. I am working in the Kind class and we prepared for about 40 children and have 13. It's been nice to spend more time with each child doing their art projects and getting to know them a little better. Much less the noise level is greatly decreased!
William is in the 2 year old room. There are several kids that are not quite 2 in there so I thought it would be fine to let him go in that room. There are also a lot of little babies in the nursery and I don't know how he would do with the little babies. He's not used to them at all. Well, he's done great! He is having a ball and doing really well. Today, however, his teachers frustrated me. They put the kids down for a "rest" and all of them fell asleep, of course. This was at about 10:00ish am. William does not take a morning nap! He takes a nap around noon and sleeps for a couple of hours then. I nicely told them that I would like he didn't need to be asleep and they woke him up after about 30 minutes or so. Needless to say, he didn't take his afternoon nap. He did not sleep at all this afternoon! He was ready to sleep at about 4:30ish and did fall asleep on our way to my parents' house, but I quickly woke him up. It's too late to take a nap then. We left my parents' house at about 7:30 pm and he was so tired that he couldn't hardly walk. Needless to say, not 5 minutes down the road he was asleep. He is now sleeping soundly and hopefully will stay there all night.
Tomorrow I will request him not to sleep at all. I don't care if the rest of the kids take a nap, but he does not need to sleep not 1 minute. It was a miserable day with a cranky 22 month old. I don't want to do it again!
OH, and did I mention he was awake at 4:30 am this morning. So he ran all day long on about 30 minutes of nap time and Mommy ran on no nap time. It wasn't our best day!
